Ascendancy Classes
CoreA powerful subclass you unlock at level 33 by completing the Labyrinth — gives build-defining passives.
What it is
Ascendancy is your subclass — each of the 7 base classes has 3 Ascendancy options (plus Scion has one). You unlock your Ascendancy by running the Labyrinth (a trap-and-boss dungeon) at levels 33, 55, 68, and endgame. Each run grants 2 Ascendancy Passive Points. Ascendancy nodes are the most powerful passives in the game and largely define your playstyle.
When you encounter it
The Aspirant's Trial in Act 3 introduces the Labyrinth. Zana's quest points you to it. The Eternal Labyrinth in maps gives your final 2 points.
Key concepts
- •Each class has 3 Ascendancies — pick based on your build, not just the class name
- •Four Labyrinth tiers: Normal (Act 3), Cruel (Act 6), Merciless (Act 10), Eternal (maps)
- •The daily Labyrinth layout changes — check lab.poelab.com for the current layout
- •Izaro (the final boss) gets stronger if you leave his empowerment objects alive in earlier rooms
- •Labyrinth traps can one-shot under-leveled characters — don't rush it
Tips for new players
- 💡Check lab.poelab.com for the daily Labyrinth layout before running
- 💡Smash all the Izaro empowerment objects (skulls, flame pillars, etc.) to make the boss easier
- 💡Bring multiple life flasks — the lab is long and traps deal a lot of damage
- 💡The Eternal Lab (endgame) is worth farming for Enchantments on your helmet
